The Fair Ones
There was a man who fell in love.
They called him fool, who saw him love
The fair ones of the Bright Above.
His first love was an autumn maid
With scarlet hair and eyes of jade.
Her skin was lovely, warm, and made
Him tremble when they touched and kissed.
Autumn left, though, as a mist,
Slipping through a trembling fist.
He loved again, a maid like snow
Whose eyes were dark yet still would glow.
But of her soul, he could not know;
His maid left him, again, alone.
Once more, he fell; this time, for spring.
But though she was a pretty thing
He could not hear how she would sing.
His final love was more than fair,
With bright gold sunshine in her hair.
They danced, and laughed, and spoke with care
And loved each other more than light.
But when she left their wondrous life
Behind her, all his life was night.
There was a man who fell in love.
They called him fool, who saw him love
The fair ones of the Bright Above.
I'm having trouble posting a comment, did you make it so that mine can't be posted? LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the poetry but you are not allowed to publish this romantic stuff until you are completely done with college. We can't have you distracted by swarms of young ladies at your feet.
